Construction Inspector

Dallas, TX


The TMX Finance® Family of Companies is looking for a Construction Inspector to join the team and serve as our feet on the ground for surveying and reporting the progress new construction projects, including store locations. As the Construction Inspector, you will inspect and complete evaluations of building systems, bringing awareness to any mechanical, plumbing, or general maintenance that may hinder the construction project. Your ability to travel regularly and thrive in a fast-paced, process-driven environment will be your keys to excelling in this role.


Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Perform on-site property inspections of locations that are potential new construction projects and report to the Construction Team.

Accurately measure and sketch the layout of developments using our inspection survey tool.

Evaluate existing building conditions and provide recommendations on required repairs.

Manage store closures and the de-imaging process.

Coordinate with all teams in the Construction Department to provide field evaluations, feedback, or assistance as required.

Conduct store visits and actively report on progress inspections.

Provide local permitting and utility management assistance, as required.

Provide on-site facilities management support for the corporate offices, as needed.

Utilize personal vehicle to conduct Company business throughout the work day, including daily store-to-store travel throughout the country.

Utilize strong interpersonal skills to communicate and interact with vendors and various departments.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in field experience, on active construction job sites, in a home or commercial building inspector role 
  • Ability to travel over 80% of the time on demand or with short notice
  • Ability to travel throughout the country on a daily basis to meet the essential functions and responsibilities of the position listed above is required
  • Basic knowledge of construction methods and techniques, including, but not limited to, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Basic knowledge of current site and building evaluation technologies, programs, and reporting methods
  • Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to thoroughly evaluate existing building systems, including mechanical and plumbing, and provide recommendations on required repairs; improvising where required based on site conditions
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Ability to quickly learn new software applications
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Physical demands for this position frequently include: the ability to remain in a stationary position, move about freely inside and occasionally outside of the store, and the operation of mechanical controls, such as a keyboard.


Preferred Qualifications

  • General knowledge/ability in AutoCAD
