The TMX Finance® Family of Companies is seeking a Financial Analyst to join our team and leverage data extraction and analysis skills to help solve identified process challenges. Your ability to source, validate, and work across multiple platforms such as Excel, SQL, EIS, Hyperion, Great Plains, Google Analytics, and Salesforce will give you the ability to support and enhance the Finance team. With critical thought processes and logic, your ability to make every report process quicker, while maintaining exceptional accuracy, will make you a vital contributor to the Finance team and the Company.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

 

Partner with multiple departments, with varying degrees of data skills, to better aid them in understanding current data trends, while maintaining a service mentality to support of business partners.

 

Identify data and process challenges. Solve them with tactical or strategic recommendations.

 

Use mining tools across multiple database platforms.

 

Contribute as a subject matter expert with the design, build, testing, and implementing of data/reporting solutions.

 

Recommend course corrections or risks to reasons for material business trend changes, based on your analysis.

 

Maintain report suites for distribution to your customer or analysis internally in the department.    

 

Involve problem frameworks, develop hypotheses, and test. Analyze solution development, feasibility of operational scope, lead implementation efforts, and develop a monitoring plan. 

 

Collaborate with other departments across the organization to drive improvement in quality, volume, service, and profitability.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in any quantitative field (Business, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Science, or Engineering).
  • Advanced understanding of statistics and state-of-the-art data mining techniques that include, but are not limited to; Logistic regression, decision trees, neural networks, stochastic gradient boosting, random forest, survival analysis, and clustering analysis.
  • Hands-on experience in data manipulation, data mining, statistics, web analytics, and descriptive analytics.
  • Strong financial, strategic, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, independent but collaborative, organized, proactive, highly responsive, and flexible.
  • Physical demands for this position frequently include: the ability to remain in a stationary position, move about freely inside and occasionally outside of the office, and the operation of mechanical controls, such as a keyboard.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in the financial services industry is preferred, but not required.
  • Proficient with the use of advanced statistical analysis software and capabilities (such as, but not limited to SAS and SQL)
  • Proficient with the use of the PowerBI tools
  • Hyperion/Essbase experience strongly preferred, but not required.
