Job Description


The TMX Finance ® Family of Companies is looking for a QA Analyst II to join our team becoming a key member of the software delivery team, ensuring the delivery of software with the highest levels of quality.  As the ideal candidate, you will collaborate with Product Management, Business Analysts, and the development team in order to ensure Quality Assurance principals are being followed in an Iterative / Agile development model. Working under the direction of the QA Lead, your tactical delivery of QA artifacts, experience in Automated testing, and performance working in Agile/Iterative environments will be your keys to success.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities


Perform complex testing tasks including test planning, test case development, scheduling and test execution to assure that User stories meet acceptance criteria and are within specified quality limits and standards.


Execute test cases through Automation as well as manually.


Collaborate and partner closely with project managers, development leads, business analysts, and product management team members to ensure that software meets user expectations and is tested to the highest quality.


Review User Stories for ambiguity and testability, and participate in story point estimation and Iteration planning process.


Provide detailed and accurate Test Case development and Test Case execution estimates.


Capture testing metrics throughout the test cycle, and report these to the team and management on a regular basis.


Conduct risk analysis and proactively provide testing options and risk mitigation solutions to the business.


Proactively facilitate a continuous improvement process to Test coverage, execution and automation.


Adhere to the QA departments Testing Processes and Governance model.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 – 8 years demonstrated experience in the planning, design, execution, and reporting of functional tests using appropriate testing tools and techniques
  • Solid experience testing multi-tier client and web server applications
  • In-depth knowledge of QA Testing procedures and theory, agile and iterative methodologies
  • Proven experience working with Test Management tools such as HP ALM or Microsoft TFS
  • Experience executing test cases with automated testing tools such as HP UFT and the ability to research if failures or valid defects
  • Ability to develop clearly detailed QA Test Plans and Test Cases
  • Experience working in an onshore / offshore testing model
  • Proven and demonstrable track record of success in fast-paced, challenging IT and business environment
  • Solid experience working with databases such as SQL Server and Oracle
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and people management skills
  • Detail-oriented multi-tasker with ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands to targeted deadlines
  • Critical thinking skills and risk mitigation techniques


Bonus Qualifications


  • Experience with Microsoft Test Manager
