Job Description


As a Staff Accountant II, this position contributes to the company’s success by ensuring an efficient settlement structure to support its operations through overseeing daily/monthly/quarterly settlement and accounting processes. The Staff II Accountant will support all aspects of operational and lender settlement accounting. This includes assisting with the month end close processes for CSO Lender Accounting.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support Senior Accountant with Product Accounting Processes.
  • Demonstrate technical and financial analysis for daily lender settlements
  • Understand transactional accounting
  • Work very closely with Information Technology partners for data analysis
  • Create comprehensive responses to lenders daily in regards to their portfolio
  • Process Lender Settlements daily and record corresponding journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Account Reconciliations
  • Partner cross-functionally to understand the business transaction and ensure that transactional activity is complete and coded accurately
  • Ensure all processes are documented, kept current and executed in accordance with company policy for assigned balance sheet accounts
  • Demonstrate understanding of internal controls and ensure that all SOX controls are being applied for assigned balance sheet accounts
  • Respond to internal and external company audits timely and accurately, including preparation of PBC list items
  • Support continuous business process improvement and recommend enhancements
  • Support projects as requested
  • Work in a fast pace and changing environment
  • Position requires to work extended hours particularly during the month-end, quarter-end and year-end process

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university OR will consider 4+ years of relevant experience in accounting
  • Ability to drive continuous business process improvements, primarily through the use of technology
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Strong understanding of process flows
  • Understanding of revenue recognition
  • Understanding of Cash and the application of Cash
  • Strong General Ledger understanding and how things are presented on the financial statement
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work extended hours, particularly during the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA candidate
  • Management experience
  • System conversion experience
  • Experience with Great Plains, Oracle, Cognos, ReqLogic, Accruent, DocLink, TrinTech, or FRx
